Soulful Spaces: Including original art at home

Soulful Spaces: Including original art at home

At Tranquil Interiors, we take immense pleasure in guiding our clients to discover their favorite artists, whether local talents or renowned names from afar. Our aim is to curate spaces that resonate with individual tastes and elevate the ambiance of every home by the addition of original art at home.

Nestled along the picturesque West Michigan Lakeshore, lies a treasure trove of artistic inspiration and an abundance of galleries, from the vibrant art scene of Saugatuck, MI, to Traverse City. Based in Grand Haven we have access to galleries such as Carlyn and Company or Gallery Uptown, a year-round showcase of dozens of artists' works. The region pulsates with creative energy!  At Tranquil Interiors, we not only celebrate this thriving art scene but actively support and navigate the commissioning of original pieces from preferred artists for our client's spaces.

Art is undeniably subjective, and therein lies its allure. It possesses a unique ability to forge authentic connections with individuals, resonating on a deeply personal level. With a plethora of talented creators producing captivating works, you're bound to find pieces that speak directly to your soul. Gone are the days of generic mass-produced pieces; our mission is to align you with art that reflects your essence, encouraging intentional and heartfelt additions to your home.

The realm of original art extends far beyond canvas masterpieces or sculptures. From clay pinch pots crafted by tiny hands to intricate drawings, collages, acrylics on wood, and metal sculptures, every form of original art holds its own charm and significance. But how does one embark on the journey of collecting original artwork?

Original art permeates our surroundings, waiting to be discovered in local galleries, juried shows, coffee shops, and even functional pieces like pottery or textiles.  We also draw from the renowned Annual Grand Haven Art Festival as well as other art festivals along the Lakeshore in search of new-to-us talent. And yes, there are options to suit every budget, from creating your own pieces to exploring estate sales or consignment shops. The key is to allow time for curation, seeking pieces that evoke a sense of timelessness and resonate with your soul.

A recent visit to the Muskegon Museum of Art left an indelible impression on me, showcasing the breadth and depth of artistic expression. From towering marble-clad walls to intricate ironwork and vibrant oil paintings by Michigan artists, the museum offered a testament to the diversity of artistic talent. Yet, it was the Postcard Salon that stole my heart, showcasing postcard-sized artworks created by locals of all ages, each priced at a modest $30. It served as a poignant reminder that original art need not be grandiose to evoke emotion and enrich our lives.

In our design approach, we also encourage families to honor their children's creativity by prominently displaying their original creations within the home. Whether in dedicated gallery spaces or bedrooms, these pieces serve as a celebration of their imagination and contribute to the warmth and authenticity of the space. For those seeking to minimize clutter without sacrificing sentimentality, photographing and compiling their artwork into a printed book offers a stylish alternative.

In conclusion, we recognize that art is subjective, and original art plays a pivotal role in shaping the ambiance of a home. It transcends dimensions, mediums, and purposes, inviting us to embark on a journey of self-discovery and reflection. We urge you to embrace the beauty of original art, allowing it to infuse your space with vitality and inspiration. Take your time in curating pieces that resonate with your soul, making deliberate, loving, and timeless additions to your home.
